Shan to go to India

According to details, famous Pakistani actor and director Shaan will move to India for the completion of post production and technical work of his film "Zill e Shah". The producer of the movie was Fiaz Khan and the cast included Saima, Noor, Asif Khan, Rahila Agha, Naghma, Mustaffa Qureshi, Babar, Shafqet Cheema and Shan himself. The film would be released on Eid-ul-Fitr.

Cinema shortage in Pakistan..!

Many films are box office hits this year. But film distributes are facing a big problem now - many completed films could not be screened due to shortage of cinemas in the country. PREITY ZINTA AND HER 34 CHILDREN

Dimpled Bollywood cutie Preity Zinta celebrated her 34th birthday this past Saturday and she celebrated by adopting 34 kids! Preity adopted 34 orphaned girls from the Mother Miracle School in Hrishikesh. While she may not be taking the girls home to live with her, as their guardian she will take care of their finances for basic needs for things like food, clothing and education. Now that’s definitely something she should be very proud of! Preity says she plans to adopt more girls every year. Now that’s a cause we can get behind. What a great way to celebrate your birthday!

With seven awards, it's been a 'fantastic' start: Priyanka Chopra

New Delhi, It's not even halfway down the year, but Priyanka Chopra already has reasons enough to say 2009 has been "fantastic" for her. The star has already walked away with seven awards including an international honour.

"It's been a fantastic start to 2009. Awards mean a lot to me. After you work so hard, the award validates your work. So every award has a very special place in my heart and gives me a huge sense of achievement and encouragement," Priyanka told IANS over e-mail. Priyanka, who scorched the screen with distinct roles in films like "Fashion" and "Dostana", was bestowed the Nielsen Box Office Award for outstanding contribution to Asian cinema at the Third Annual Asian Film Awards held in Hong Kong last month. She says the award is an encouragement for her to perform better. "I have only been in the Indian film industry for about five years now and so it was a huge surprise and an honour to have been conferred the award. This is my first international award and is definitely an encouragement for me as an actor to perform better. It was a proud moment for me to represent India at the Asian Film Awards," she said. The 26-year-old actress, who won the Miss World title in 2000, also walked away with the Filmfare best actress award for her performance as a supermodel in Madhur Bhandarkar's "Fashion". For the same film, Priyanka also bagged the best actress award at the STAR Screen Awards, Lions Club Gold Awards as well as the Stardust Awards. "I feel privileged to have been given the chance to essay a complex character like Meghna Mathur in 'Fashion' and I'm truly overwhelmed by the appreciation I have received," she said. "I am very grateful for the support I have received, be it from my directors and co-stars to the technicians on each film. Without them, it would not have been possible," Priyanka added. These apart, the now three-time Filmfare award winner also received an honour at the 10th FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) Frames this year for her contribution to entertainment and was also given a best brand ambassador award at the NDTV Profit Car and Bike Awards. And Priyanka can expect some more prizes with the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards approaching soon. Till then, she is busy working hard for her forthcoming films - Ashutosh Gowariker's "What's Your Raashee?" opposite Hurman S. Baweja and Vishal Bharadwaj's "Kaminay" alongside Shahid Kapur.

A Congress minister threatened me, says Sanjay Dutt

New Delhi, A day after the Supreme Court disallowed him from contesting elections because of his conviction in a criminal case, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt Wednesday alleged that a senior Congress leader had threatened him if he did not join that party.
In an interview to television channel NDTV, Dutt said he had tapes of the conversation he had with the minister who threatened him that court cases would go against him if he did not join the Congress. Refusing to identify the minister, Dutt said: "I did a sting operation on the minister." He added that he "wore a taping device to expose the minister". Dutt was given a ticket by the Samajwadi Party to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow, but will not be able to fight after the Supreme Court Tuesday refused to suspend his conviction for owning illegal arms in the run-up to the 1993 serial bombings in Mumbai.

Kareena wears dress worth Rs.800,000 in 'Kambakkht Ishq'

New Delhi, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor will sport a dress worth Rs.800,000 for a song in "Kambakkht Ishq". Producer Sajid Nadiadwala had specially ordered it for the actress from Paris.

"When the song was completed and the whole crew had a look, it looked very beautiful and eye catching. But most importantly everyone's eyes were stuck at seeing Kareena's dress. Kareena was looking gorgeous. The dress cost Rs.800,000," said a source close to the producer.

The filmmaker has also gifted the dress to Kareena as she looked really pretty wearing it.
"Sajid Nadiadwala is a wonderful person at heart. He always makes sure that his cast and crew is happy. Kareena was happy after receiving such an extra-ordinary gift from Sajid bhai. She was short of words to express her feeling after she received the gift." added the source.

Kareena plays a supermodel in the movie, which has Akshay Kumar in the male lead. It also stars Hollywood biggies Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards.

Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan, the two superstars of bollywood, have decided to bury the hatchet for the time being to face the bigger challenge posed by unusual ganging up of Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.

So much so, that Hrithik Roshan and wife Sussanne have become permanent fixtures at the parties hosted by Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri at Mannat. Sources say that despite of being busy with his upcoming project ‘Kites’, Hrithik makes it a point to attend all the parties at Shah Rukh’s place. He and Shah Rukh Khan were together even in Dubai during the launching of Atlantis, last year.
Shah Rukh Khan also visits Hrithik’s home quite frequently with his close buddies from bollywood like Karan Johar. A few nights ago, they were spotted playing dumb games with the hosts at Hrithik’s place. It was just a casual gathering of Shah Rukh and his friends at Hrithik’s Juhu home.
A source present on the occasion elaborates that the atmosphere was very pleasant and cool. Shah Rukh and other guests had been divided into two teams and were enjoying miming Hollywood flicks. Finally, SRK’s team won the game.

Slumdog Millionaire jumps back into North American Top 10

Washington, British director Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" has jumped back into the North American Top 10 with an 11 percent increase in weekend sales despite no increase in the number of theatres showing it.

Its per-theatre average of $7,794 over the Jan 2-4 weekend was the best among all films in the Top 10. Now in its eighth weekend of release, the award-winning film has seen its weekend gross increase every single week.Running in 612 theatres across US, the film registered a weekend gross of $4,770,000 taking its total gross to $28.78 million.Shot in Mumbai, the film tells the heart-warming story of an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who goes on to win a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" game show. Dev Patel plays the protagonist Jamal as a teenager.
